Hello
My name is Mary Anne Ramirez and I paint with wool. Having completed my careers as a Certified Nurse Midwife and college professor, I have ventured out on a new and exciting journey in fiber arts. I have always dabbled in fiber but this is definitely new. I bring my past careers along with my love of gardening and nature to my designs. Even in my more traditional work I previously stood out as an innovator and I continue to bring this to my art.

My Story
I love the color, texture, and movement that you can replicate from nature to fiber. Finding locally sourced wool and hand blending it on a blending board allows me to recreate not only what I see around me but also what I imagine. I began my journey into art first in acrylics, learning from online artists. Then I moved to watercolors found it very different from acrylics but I loved it. Learning to pain in a loose fashion was a challenge but really prepared me for my next step - fiber art. While I will never be a great painter, I find the time I spend continuing to learn particularly in watercolor teaches me about color blending, form, and perspective. At the same time I find the freedom of fiber allows my imagination to soar. You will see that some of my fiber art is abstract, some geometric, and some more representational, but all of it is individually designed and hand made. I am always open to new ideas and suggestions and welcome custom orders. I will try to design as closely I possible to what you want but since each item is unique, no two will ever be the same.
